Obstetrics and Gynecology Research Institute of Zhejiang University The Obstetrics and gynecology Research Institute was founded in 1994 and is affiliated to Women's Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University. The former director was Shi Yifu, vice directors were Zhou Fuzhen, Xie Xing and Lu Shiming. At present, the header of institute is Xie Xing, vice directors are Lin Jun and Lu Shiming, assistant director is Chen Huaizeng. The institute is comprised of four departments: Gynecological oncology research department, Reproduction and endocrinology research department, Pathology research deparment and Perinatal medicine research department. Research staffs include professors, associate professors, lecturers, postgraduates and technicians. In addition to tremendous technical force, the institute has been equipped with highly developed instruments, and is the scientific research centre of our hospital. Since its establishment, supported by national science foundation of China, national science foundation of Zhejiang Province,Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of public health and Ministry of Education, the institute has undertaken a series of research projects and made a lots of important achievements. With a great number of research papers published in domestic and international academic journals, the institute has achieved several Science and Technology Awards issued by Zhejiang Province, including projects: Research about the immunohistochemical characteristic , cell proliferation and gene regulation of PSTT, Assisted reproductive technology:IVF-ET and gift baby and Freeze thawing of embryo. The institute has devoted much attention to the training of young scientists and actively involved in academic exchanges both at home and abroad. Many scholars were sent to USA, German, Australia and Hongkong for academic exchanges and advanced training. With the approaching of reasonable personnel composing, complete instrument equipment and innovative scientific research thinking, the institute is working hard to create more achievement and to benefit the hospital's clinic working. Family Planning Research Institute of Zhejiang University Former family Planning Research Institute of Zhejiang Medical University, Zhejiang branch of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences,was founded in 1986; the Institute places emphasis on the research and development of birth control; the former heads were YE Kexiao, SHI Yifu and CHEN Qiubo. Now the director is Huang Hefeng. Vice directors were JIN Fan and Zhu Xuanwen. The institute has undertaken a series of projects, including: a project of the 7th Five-Year Plan National Key Technologies R&D Program-Research on Levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine device; a project of the 8th Five-Year Plan National Key Technologies R&D Program-The mechanism of side effects of intrauterine device and the prevention and cure measure; a key project of National Committee of Family planning and Ministry of public Health-The character of early pregnant uterus after cesarean delivery and the prevention of recent complication of artificial abortion. It has been awarded 2 prizes awards of Progress in Science and Technology by National Population and Family Planning Commission of China. Additionally, the institute has co-operated several projects with related units in Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing Municipalities. The research project--Mechanism research on mifepristone and misoprostol antagonistic effects against abnormally uterus bleeding in early pregnancy, was awarded the Prize of 2001 Progress in Science and Technology of Zhejiang Province. In recent years, there were 47 academic papers published at national and international journals, in which 5 papers won excellent paper awards at ministerial level and 3 papers won the same at provincial lever. The staff of the institute have participated in the writing of 3 books : "The mechanism and practice of family Planning", "Clinic surgery of family Planning" and " family Planning science".
