Reproductive Endocrinology

The Department of Reproductive Endocrinology set up in 1980s, has been the provincial Center of treatment, scientific research, and teaching in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. The department has more than 10 specialists or professors of whom two are tutors of doctorial students and two are tutors of Master degree candidates.It boasts first-rate,systematic equipment for the diagnosis and therapy of infertility.
In the late 1980's, this department was the first in Zhejiang province to launch the therapy of hypothalamal Amenorrhea with GnRH, ovarian stimulation with clomiphene, serious polycystic ovary syndrome(OHSS) and so on. In recent years, this department has achieved dramatic development in assisted reproductive technology. The laparoscopy and hysteroscopy are widely used to detect the causes of infertility and treat abnormalities, endometriosis and pelvic adhesions.
Since 1994, this department has consecutively succeeded in vitro fertilization, gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT), zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), transvaginal multifetal pregnancy reduction, cryopreservation of embryos, embryo donor program, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, blastocyst culture , and oocyte in vitro maturation. Most of these programs of technology have reached in provincial and national advanced levels. The Center was awarded the Prize of Progress in Technology of Frozen-Thawed embryo transfer at provincial level.
The Center of Assisted Reproductive Technology of Zhejiang Province was denominated by the Department of Health of Zhejiang Province in 1997. The title of main research department in Reproductive Endocrinology was conferred by Zhejiang Province in 2000. The center was one of the first institutes authorized to carry out programs of assisted reproductive technology by the Ministry of Health of our country in 2001.
The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology offers outpatient specialist services from Monday to Friday.There are 42 beds in the division.
